My Organizer Explained
My Organizer is an example application of FNO3 where the
use of Notes are taken to the next level and can be used in a standalone mode to
create databases for a variety of applications such as
Standard PIM functions
Stock keeping
Business contacts
Shipping records
and many others.
The default set-up of My Organizer consists of four folders located in the My
Documents folder containing Notes templates as follows:
| Calendar |
Address Book |
 |
 |
| To-Do |
Notes |
 |
 |
Notes
- Each My Organizer folder can be considered a database of information. Each
database entry is stored as a bookmark against the hidden fnotes3.fno file.
- Each My Organizer folder has it's own Column
Template. To return to this default Column Template select Reset
Current Template in the column right click menu (see Customizing
Columns)
- The PIM templates are only examples for "getting started". My
Organizer folders can be created in any location, although the My Organizer
Toolbar PIM icons only relate to the default PIM folders.
- The bookmark field must be enabled for the My Organizer database contents
to be displayed as each entry is a bookmark against the fnotes3.fno file
Creating a New Entry
1. A new entry to a My Organizer Database is created by selecting the New
Item button
.
Note
- Entries can also be added by the shortcut key CTRL-i

2. Information can be added to the new entry in the usual way that Notes are
edited (see Creating Notes)

Note
- The row number at the beginning of the row is the icon column. When the
filename column is hidden the icon column will display the row number of the
associated row
Removing an Entry
1. To remove an entry in a My Organizer database first select the entry then
select the Remove Entry icon
.
Random and Sequential ID's
When creating new entries in a My Organizer database the entries are by
default added with a random ID number. This random ID number is a six digit
number stored in the bookmark field
Note
- The column template for My Organizer folders includes the Bookmark Column
with zero width to hide the Random ID number. To view the ID number increase
the width of the Bookmark column using the Set Column Width option in
the Column Right Click Menu
Some methods of using My Organizer may require sequential ID numbering such
as an invoice database or shipping record databases. When sequential ID numbers
are required select Sequential Id from the drop down menu beside the Add
New Entry icon.

Notes
- Bookmarks can be edited in the same way as normal bookmarks (see Creating
a Bookmark). This enables the bookmark to be modified to correspond to
the ID numbering syntax of the database (e.g. Invoices)
- When using the Sequential Id option FNO3 will analyze the
contents of the Bookmark field and increment the ID number using the
previous entry as the ID format
Example: If the bookmark field contained INV00001 as the first entry in the
My Organizer database creating a new entry with the Sequential Id option
selected will create an entry with a Bookmark of INV00002.
My Organizer Layout
A specific My Organizer Layout (see Overview
of Layouts and Views) is available which simplifies the FNO3
display for data entry.
